Scientists from Scotland have debunked the enduring myth that people who know several foreign languages have a higher level of intellectual development than their peers who, in addition to their native language, have only one language.
During the study, three groups of volunteers were selected, the first of which included multilingual people, the second - polyglots, the third - people with two dialects of the English language. As a result, it turned out that speculation about the conformity of knowledge of several languages and high IQ is a common myth.
Scientists note that learning foreign languages is very useful, as it allows you not only to train your memory, but also to feel freer when traveling and meeting people from other cultures. Moreover, learning languages in adulthood can save a person from intellectual degradation.
