It’s not news that the secret to longevity is good nutrition and a healthy, active lifestyle. As it turned out, the famous Mediterranean diet is one of the best nutritional systems for longevity. According to the study, ladies of Balzac age, preferring the Mediterranean diet, are much less sick and live longer, relative to women of a similar age, but adhering to a different diet.

The Mediterranean diet is a large number of seafood, fish, vegetables, fruits, herbs, cereals and beans, as well as olive oil. In addition, this diet excludes the use of alcohol, processed foods and fatty meats from the diet. Olive oil and fish provide the body with the required amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The author of this study, Cecilia Samieri, argues that following a Mediterranean diet does not extend life, but also reduces the risk of a number of diseases: obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease.
